PERFECT Morning Everybody!
“You can only perceive the beauty that lives outside you when you feel the beauty that lives inside you.” – Don Miguel Ruiz, Mastery of Love
I have traveled to 4 States and 8+ Cities over the last 8 weeks. Last week, I had the opportunity to travel to Chicago to participate in RSM’s Facilitating Interactive Learning Program. It was an amazing experience filled with great content, great people and great vibes! Unfortunately, I came down with a debilitating head cold the weekend before traveling to Chicago. Up until then, I hadn’t been sick since 2018. Needless to say, it was a challenging and exhausting week!
My morning routine is ruthless. I typically wake up around 4:30am to journal, exercise, and meditate in an effort to get ready for the day ahead. Last week, this routine was abandoned. I struggled to get out of bed, eat, and get to class on time! Mentally, this is a tough pill to swallow as I am so used to slamming my foot on the gas pedal as soon as I roll out of bed. I am obsessed with accomplishing. It is challenging for me, internally, to pause, take a break, and give my body the rest it so desperately needs. The mental distortions I generate when I do not exercise or stick to my morning routine are REAL and quite destructive. My everyday attitude of gratitude turned into pessimism as I was laid up in my hotel bed for an entire day. No matter how sick or anxious we might feel, we must remember that the beauty that lives within can never be altered. By recognizing this, we are able to appreciate the beauty that lives outside of us!
I am obsessed with performing at my utmost highest level, but at what cost? I learned last week that without the proper amount of rest, we run the risk of running our bodies into the ground. We are not Human Doings. We are Human Beings. I love to DO, but last week reminded me that we must make time to simply BE. When we are not feeling well, we must hit the pause button on life and let our bodies rest, recover, and re-energize so that we can return to FULL functionality. Showing our bodies love, compassion and kindness is a long-term play! By allowing time for recovery, our bodies return the favor by performing at a much higher level , becoming stronger and more resilient!
Enjoy what comes of today!
