Good Morning All!
I hope everybody’s day is off to a fantastic start! This week’s edition centers around a challenge I have for each and every one of you! And, if you can master this challenge, it can have an extremely positive impact on your life!
The Challenge: No complaining for 1 week.
Sounds simple, right? Not so much. I encourage you to recruit a partner or two if you decide to undertake this challenge and hold each other accountable!
Rules: There are only a few. If you find yourself complaining, you must start back at 0 (out of 7 days). Complaining in a nutshell involves describing an event or person negatively without indicating next steps to fix the problem.
Example of a complaint: “John doe never gets any of his work done on time and its really starting to tick me off.”
Example of a non-complaint: “John doe never gets any of his work done on time. I am going to pull him aside and ask him if everything is okay and offer up tips to increase his efficiency at work.”
4 letter words and other uses of profanity are also complaint qualifiers. If you find someone else who is complaining and they are a part of the challenge, inform them of their complaining, as they will have to start back at 0. If you take this challenge seriously, you will be forcing upon yourself increased awareness and more precise thinking. Oftentimes, we complain so much, we aren’t even aware we are complaining.
Some positive benefits of completing this challenge include:
- You will find yourself starting to consciously responding to situations, rather than unconsciously reacting.
- You will be able to “stiff arm” negative events because the solution to those negative events will be offered up. This can result in better sleep and more positive conversations.
- People want to hang around action-oriented problem solvers.
Get all of your complaining out this week, and we can all start fresh on Monday!
Shoot me a quick E-mail me if you decide to partake in this mind-altering challenge and let me know how it goes! Have a FANTASTIC day!
