Here are your 3 golden nuggets for the week!
- “All that arises in life passes away.” – Unknown
I was taught at a very young age that change is the only constant. Nothing is permanent. “This too shall pass.” As we head into the weekend, I encourage you to offer no resistance to what is. Remember, negative (and positive) emotions don’t last forever. Within a 24 hour period, you will surely experience the full spectrum of human emotions. Find peace in this. Allow the present moment to be, and accept the impermanent nature of all thing and conditions. This is how life was meant to be lived.
- “What you do to others, you do to yourself.” –Eckhart Tolle
Remember, what others say and do, and the opinions they have, are based almost entirely on their own self-reflection. The same is true for what you say and do. Don’t take things personally. Instead of getting angry over the words of others, choose to be mindful and choose to grow stronger, one way or the other, because of them. Every challenge is an opportunity for inner growth. Always set an example. Treat everyone with kindness and respect, even those who are rude to you – not because they are nice, but because YOU are. And do your best to be thankful for rude and difficult people too – they serve as great reminders of how not to be.
- “We don’t get what we want in life. We get what we believe we deserve.” – Emily Fletcher
Wanting is not enough. It is ludicrous to expect to develop chiseled abs and a strong core if we continue to devour a dozen donuts from Krispy Kreme every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday! Wanting is only one side of the equation. Oftentimes, what we think we deserve is completely skewed by our lack of confidence and self-worth. And rather than telling our taste buds “no” or having an uncomfortable conversation about what we really want, we avoid it entirely and settle for mediocrity. Successful people often get a bad rap for being arrogant, and for some, that may be true. However, there are plenty of non-arrogant highly successful people whose first step toward success was quite simple: they asked for what they wanted and took action to turn that want into reality. They had the guts to desire AND implement positive change in their lives. And so do you! What small steps can you make right now that aligns with your true, deeply rooted wants? Got it? Now ACT!
Enjoy what comes of today!
