Great Morning All!
Being that it is the holiday season and our hearts tend to be a bit more open and softened during this time of the year, I want to center today’s message around forgiveness and the benefit it has on our bodies and minds. Did you know that those who forgive, besides enjoying better physical health, suffer less from anxiety and depression? Forgiveness literally promotes physical and mental health.
But how, you might ask. Well according to google, we must 1) make the decision to let go; 2) whether it be verbal or written, express the pain; 3) focus on the present, the here and now; and 4) forgive. Easier said than done, I know. And trust me, there is no cookie cutter way to forgive somebody as the hurt they might have caused is unique in any and every situation. However, the sooner we can bring ourselves to be at peace with the situation, the better off we will be both physically and emotionally.
Forgiveness has been proven to:
- Increase happiness and feelings of well-being
- Decrease stress
- Increase energy levels
- Increase quality of sleep
- Regulate blood pressure
- Decrease feelings of anxiety and depression
Most people want to feel good, and forgiveness gives us the opportunity to experience that. The sooner we can learn to let go and let it be, the sooner we will be able to reap the benefits that are deeply rooted in the art of forgiveness.
And Remember: “Holding a grudge does not make one strong, it makes one bitter. Forgiveness does not make one weak, but rather, it sets one free.” –Somebody Important
Have an AMAZING day!
