I recently proposed a challenge to a few friends within a group text that I’d also like to propose to everybody here, and it involves stepping out of our ever so comfortable comfort zone. The challenge is simple: go up to 5 random people you normally would walk past and not say a word to, and simply say “hello, how’s your day going?” The key here is to pay attention to your tone of voice and really convey to that individual that you truly want to know how their day is going. That’s all and that’s it! Take notice of how “off guard” you catch somebody after you say hello. Also take notice of how you feel after performing this act. Many of us are so consumed by the day’s laundry list of activities we need to get done, that we rarely take time out for healthy communication with others. I am definitely guilty of this.
Once you reach 5 people, take a 1-2 minutes and reflect on how you feel. I can almost guarantee that you feel genuinely happier and are in a better mood than you were before you said hello to those 5 people.
Keeping it short and simple this week! Take a stab at it, reflect on the end results, and let me know how it goes! Everybody enjoy your Friday and have a productive, fun, and safe weekend!
