GREAT Morning Everybody!
Here are your 3 golden nuggets for the week!
- “A fear overcome is a strength acquired.” – Unknown
I once heard somebody say that fear acts as a compass pointing us in the direction we should be headed. Rather than letting fear throw us off our game, we can utilize fear to learn more about ourselves. This allows us to grow out of bad habits, poor judgments, and questionable decisions. Always remember, we don’t overcome the fear then move forward. We move forward to overcome the fear. So dive in! You will be astounded at what you might find.
- “If you want others to be happy, practice compassion; and if you want yourself to be happy, practice compassion.” – Dalai Lama
If one shows kindness, caring, and a willingness to help others, one is showing compassion. To be compassionate is to be thoughtful and empathetic. Whenever I am in a bad mood or having a bad day, I intentionally go out of my way to make somebody else’s day better. This could come in the form of paying for the person’s coffee behind me, complimenting/sending a gratitude text to a coworker or friend, or even holding the door open for the person behind me. By helping others, we are able to mentally detach from the “poor me” victim mentality and as a result, happy hormones (i.e. serotonin and dopamine) flood our systems and elevate us to a higher, more joyful frequency.
- “We must not focus on having what we want. We must want what we have. – Dalai Lama
Last week, I had the privilege of visiting Crescent Moon Ranch, one of the Nation’s most beautiful nature sites. As the girlfriend and I were hiking next to a family of 4, I overhead them talking about how fun the Space Mountain ride was at Disney Land and how anxious they were to go back. Rather than being present and directing their focus on the magnificent views that lay in front of us, they were consumed by thoughts about the past and plans for the future. By obsessing over the past and future, they were unable to fully enjoy the Now. As you navigate through the rest of the week, I encourage you to be mindful about where you center your attention. Remember, everything is precious, and if it doesn’t seem that way, I think that you will find that paying more attention to the Now can make it seem that way! Attention is the true source of wealth!
Enjoy what comes of today!
With Gratitude,
Rob
