Great Morning All!
This week’s post is for all of my hustlers out there, who work an ungodly 50-80 hours a week during certain times of the year.
There are points in all of our lives where work can be straight up chaotic! The hours are long, the stress is high, and the sleep is limited, BUT we must not forget to set some time aside each week for ourselves.
The Tip: Take 15-30 minutes during the weekend, put your phone on airplane mode (or shut it completely down), and check in with yourself. This check-in is not meant to assess WHAT you are doing, but instead to assess HOW you are doing. The key here is to clear the mind of all distractions, whether that be work, car issues, family issues, or anything else that may be bothering you. Oftentimes, we get so caught up in work and other life issues that we forget to the necessary time out for ourselves! During this check-in, focus on your breathing, taking deep breaths through the nose for a count of 4, filling up that diaphragm (hold for 4), and exhaling through the mouth for a count of 4. If you do this correctly and intently, when you are finished with this check-in, you will feel much better than you did beforehand.
Try it out, tell your friends, and let me know how it goes!
Keep up the hard work and always remember that we are privileged and fortunate to do what we do. Everybody has stress in their lives, be thankful that the main source of your (current) stress is (probably) work and not something much much worse.
Have a terrific rest of your day!
