In a lunge pose, bring your palms to touch at heart center. Hook your elbow outside the opposite thigh (if right leg up, then hook leg elbow across right quad). Continue to press your hands into each other for traction to open your chest towards the sky. Check in with your alignment throughout the pose: Work towards lining up your toes and knees so that they are in one straight line and you’re twisting from the stable part of your spine, your upper back, the thoracic spine. Versus twisting and cracking your back, focus on broadening your chest. Shrug your top shoulder away from your earlobe.
This is a great one if you are either 1) working on your balance or 2) looking to detoxify your entire body! This Modified Revolved Prayer Twist is a deep twisting posture that increases spinal mobility while strengthening thigh, core, and back muscles. Additionally, the twisting in this pose helps to bring fresh blood flow through your kidney, liver, and spleen, aiding in a complete detoxification of the entire body and ridding the body from undesired toxins. This pose also activates the solar plexus which helps improve food digestion and the functioning of the organs related to the abdomen! Try implementing this into your workout routine, 3-4 sets with a hold on each side of 30-45 seconds!
